Despite heavy rain the “Wombles” from St Augustines R.C. Primary school joined a worthwhile litter pick in the park on Tuesday 14th October 2014.The national Womble themed “Big Tidy Up” was adopted by the Friends and led by member Jim Moody.

As part of their Citizenship studies a group of youngsters were joined by local Councillors, residents, council staff and Friends of Fairy Dell members

Litter pickers, gloves and Wellington boots were donned for the event.

The Friends of Fairy Dell regularly litter pick around the park but this week had deliberately left the area for the children.

The visiting Wombles actually had to work hard to locate rubbish as there has been an improving appreciation of the park and less litter is being dropped around the pathways, despite an increasing use of the area.
