A new Neighbourhood plan which includes Fairy Dell, the parks and green spaces in our area is being formulated. You may find the information we have been sent of interest.
Marton West Neighbourhood Plan
In October 2019, we sought your views on a limited update to the Marton West Neighbourhood Plan, which was originally approved in 2016. All the responses received, supported our proposals.
As a result, we are now undertaking a formal consultation process, which is required by law, if we are to consolidate the changes into an updated Marton West Neighbourhood Plan.
The change to our Parks and Gardens policy is detailed below:
"Development will not be permitted which would have an adverse effect on the use, management, amenity or enjoyment of Bonny Grove Park, Sudbury Pond and that part of Fairy Dell, which falls within Marton West. Opportunities to enhance their public accessibility and continued maintenance as valued local facilities will be supported.
Parkland to the south of, and indivisible from, Newham Hall, is designated as Local Green Space due to its historic and considerable regional significance; important value to local communities; and the need to protect ancient trees and local landscape
Applications, which result in the loss of green space, veteran, notable and mature trees and local valued landscapes, which make a positive contribution to the character of the area and local amenity, will be resisted."
The modified Marton West Neighbourhood Plan is being published by the Marton West Community Council for consultation under Regulation 14 of The Neighbourhood Planning Regulations 2012 (as amended).
The consultation period is from Monday, 20th January 2020 until 5pm on 1st March 2020. The full plan can be accessed by clicking the report image at the top of this page.
